Objectives:
  • To increase awareness of problem solving methods, techniques and tools;
  • To increase problem solving skills, therefore to increase IQ;
  • To be more familiar about various aspects of programming as a problem solving tool;
  • To be familiar about usage of some problem solving tools.
    Course Contents:
    1. Problem solving definitions and concepts,
      • Definition of problem, types of problems
      • Definition of problem solving
      • Concepts related with problem solving
    2. Problem solving methods/techniques,
      • Creative Problem Solving (CPS) method,
      • Brain Storming,
      • Mind Mapping method.
    3. Programming as problem solving tool,
      • Algorithms,
      • Data Structures.
    4. Problem solving tool software packages
      • Excel Macros and VBA,
      • MATLAB concepts, language elements, (http://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab/)
      • Some mathematical concepts,
      • MATLAB scripts for some real life mathematical problems.
